A week ago, Pitt ranked fourth in the ESPN/USA Today Coaches Poll. Today, the Panthers were again ranked in the top five in the AP's preseason basketball poll.
The first AP poll of the season was released today and Pitt ranked fifth. The Panthers will start the season behind only Duke, Michigan State, Kansas State, and Ohio State.
This is the third season in the past five in which Pitt has started the season ranked in the top five.
