Pitt Basketball Moves Up To Third In Polls

With losses by No. 2 Michigan State and No. 4 Kansas State, Pitt, as expected, moved up to third in AP and ESPN/USA Today polls. But they've got plenty of Big East company in the top 25.

UConn made the biggest rise, going from an unranked team to joining Pitt in the top ten (No. 7 AP / No. 9 ESPN/USA Today) after defeating No. 2 Michigan State. Syracuse is also in the top ten (No. 7 ESPN/USA Today and No. 8 AP).

Other Big East teams in the top 25 are Villanova, Georgetown, and Notre Dame.

Last week, the Panthers defeated Robert Morris and Penn. This week, the team will face Duquesne and Rider.

In both polls, Duke is No. 1 and Ohio State is No. 2. Both teams get tough tests this week. Duke faces No. 6 (previous No. 2 team) Michigan State and OSU squares goes on the road to play 5-1 Florida State.
