The Geography of College Football Fans (and Realignment Chaos)
Two weeks ago, New York Times writer/statistician Nate Silver published a fascinating piece entitled "The Geography of College Football Fans (and Realignment Chaos)" which explores the size and location of college football fan bases around the country. It's not the most scientifically robust piece, but Silver does a brilliant job of piecing together what's probably a pretty accurate picture of the college football landscape. It's definitely a worthwhile read if you haven't seen it yet. In case you were wondering, Silver concludes that Pitt's fan base is 831,496 deep and ranks 37/120.
