Pitt Vs. Providence: Open Gamethread

Providence Friars at Pittsburgh Panthers, Jan 25, 2012 7:00 PM EST

Pitt is back at the Pete tonight against Providence. That's not necessarily an advantage, though, since it's been more than a month since Pitt has won there (or won any game, for that matter).

If nothing else, the game should be close, but so have many of their recent eight consecutive losses, so that's little consolation. Providence is a bit offensively starved as well, so this could be, in the words of Good 'ol J.R., a real slobberknocker.

Leave your pre-game thoughts here and stop back to comment on the game at 7:00 p.m. tonight.

Holy Smokes

We really miss Gary McGhee.

We also miss Skerry and Herrion…those guys are struggling right now, we wish them well at Marshall and Towson.

Not sure

But if he doesn’t Pitt might crap away this lead since that what they’ve been doing…

Bench scoring is at a premium for both sides

Both teams have a combined 5 points from their benches

I know you will have a full post on this, but

TE/DE JP Holtz(Shaler) commits to Pitt after decommiting from psu and flirting with MSU

Awesome Freshman Class coming to an Oakland campus dear to you…

OK, keep on the boards and win this game!

this game's far from over

but so far so good and man it feels good to finally see our guys play well.. even if it is against providence.

Considering Pitt's past few games against Providence

A comfortable lead is welcoming right now.

True

And until gets up by 20, I won’t feel comfortable.

If Tray hadn't gotten injured

where would this team be? At least we’d have a few more wins on the season.

Where has this Ashton Gibbs been?

I miss him shooting this well

he's been at point guard

which proved to be a pretty poor fit for him

by panthro on Jan 25, 2012 8:25 PM EST up reply actions

I will say this

For as good as Pitt is playing right now, they’re letting Providence get to the line way too often in the second half. 17 free throws already for PC and they just got in the bonus

He's pretty bad

But he’s only a redshirt freshman so I’ll excuse it…for now.

Dante Taylor, on the other hand, has no excuse

An offense that executes. A semi-competent defense. Winning.

Things we haven’t seen this before Christmas
