It is no secret that Pitt will be hosting their three biggest targets for the 2013 recruiting class this weekend. It was known for over a week that Robert Foster and Dorian Johnson will be coming to Oakland this weekend, but now Tyler Boyd is reportedly coming as well. Paul Chryst could answer a lot of critics by pulling off a major haul with these three major recruits. Tyler Boyd and Robert Foster will be playing in the WPIAL semifinals tonight, and Dorian Johnson's team has already been eliminated.
Robert Foster and Dorian Johnson have been linked with Pitt for some time now, but it is hard to say where they will be going. They have some major programs after them, and some legendary coaches like Urban Meyer, Nick Saban, and Frank Beamer calling. Still, Pitt has remained in the thick of their recruitment the whole time.
Tyler Boyd has always been believed to be going elsewhere, but there has been a positive vibe coming from him lately. Unlike Foster and Johnson, Boyd has not given a final list. He is weighing all options, but it would be nice if the three athletes mesh well this weekend and fall in love with the thought of bringing their hometown team to prominence.
Social media and summer camps have certainly changed things. All of these local players know each other already, and they know plenty of current Panthers as well. It would be nice for the big three to meet and bond with some of the out of state recruits. It was looking like Tra'von Chapman would be there this weekend, but he will be unable to make it to Pitt this weekend. It does not help the chance of Pitt landing these guys, but it does not hurt them either. Although, peer recruiting has been effective lately. It landed Pitt a couple of prospects already.
