Pitt vs. Notre Dame: Open Gamethread

Pitt has probably their stiffest test of the season this afternoon against Notre Dame. Playing on the road and with some big injuries recently, Pitt's not exactly in an ideal position to win the game. But it's one game and anything can happen ... right? No, seriously - talk me into this one.

One thing I can't wait to see is how Tino Sunseri stacks up in this game. He's having an incredible year, but playing a defense the caliber of Notre Dame is taking it to a different level. I'm not making excuses for him, but if he doesn't have a great game, it'll be too hard to blame him. A bit of good news regarding Sunseri: In 2010 as a sophomore, he had a decent game in South Bend completing 27 of his 39 passes for 272 yards, a touchdown, and an interception. Sunseri's a better player than he was then and even though this Irish team is better as well, I'd be surprised he came out and laid an egg.

Another thing quietly being overlooked is that Pitt's defense has been pretty solid lately. The Panthers have given up more 20 points or more only once in their past six games. A good game by them could go a long way in keeping Pitt in the game.
