If you've been here for the four years we've been around, you know that we've never been about a ton of promotional stuff. But we've got a pretty cool opportunity to give away a couple of nice prizes here.
We were given a couple of nice Pitt calendars to give away on the site. Now, these aren't your standard run-of-the-mill calendars. These were created by a company called Asgard Press and they've been doing them for years. The unique thing is that each month has a large 11" x 14" photograph of a vintage Pitt game program. Not only that, but they are lightly perforated and as each month ends, you can take out the prior month's photo and frame it.
The photos are a nice, fairly thick stock and I've taken a look at a sample - trust me, they're really nice. We've got two to give away and each is individually wrapped and can be given away as a late Christmas gift or something. The retail value is $19.95 on these.
Here's how we're going to give them away - we'll be running two contests. If you don't want to try your hand at either, but might be interested in the calendars, we've even got a special deal for you. Head over to Asgard's site using this link and you can not only order one, but you'll get 10% off (will be taken off when you're near the end of placing the order). The offer is good until February 1, 2013.
Onto the contests:
Contest 1 - Guess the Score contest: Our gamethread will open up the day of the game at some point prior to it starting. Simply go in before the game and predict the game score, assigning a total to each team (i.e. Pitt 34, Ole Miss 27). The person closest to the number of Pitt's total points will win. If there's a tie, we'll use the Ole Miss final point total as the tiebreaker and whoever is closest will win. If we've still got a tie, the person guessing the closest Pitt total first in the gamethread will win. The contest will close at the kickoff of the game and any entries after that will not be counted. You can only enter once to be eligible and here are the official Guess the Score rules - all participants are subject to the official rules.
Contest 2 - Comment of the Game contest: This is also related to our gamethread post on that day. The person with the 'best comment' of the game will win. This will be voted upon by the writers of the site and it can be anything from most informative to most entertaining (we know it's cheesy, just go with it). The only stipulation is that images/memes/gifs will not count - the comment has to be actual text. The contest will begin with the opening kickoff and close at the conclusion of the game and any entries before or after that will not be counted. Our writers will take a vote here at Cardiac Hill and then select a winner. We'll need to try to contact you since the winner probably won't be immediately declared, so make sure the email address you used to sign up is correct. Unlike the first contest, you can comment as many times as you want for a chance to win. Here are the official Comment of the Game Rules and again, all participants are subject tot he official rules.
That's it, peeps. Hope you'll join us during the third straight BBVA Compass Bowl. If you have any questions about either contest, put them down in the comments thread.
