Darnell Dinkins Gets Shot With Rutgers

Darnell Dinkins - In the words of Obi Wan in Star Wars Episode IV, "That's a name I've not heard in a long time."

You might not remember Dinkins since he hasn't worn a Pitt uni in more than ten years, but he played at Pitt before beginning an NFL career that lasted about a decade. Dinkins even won a Super Bowl ring with the Saints a few years ago.

He's now headed to Rutgers to join new Kyle Flood's new staff.

Star-divide

Dinkins, who was just doing some commentary for Pittsburgh Power games, will coach tight ends for the Scarlet Knights - the position he played in the NFL. How much recruiting Dinkins will do is anybody's guess, but On the Banks, SB Nation's Rutgers blog, makes the obvious link that he may do some recruiting in our neck of the woods.

And in case you're wondering what's become of all those Pitt coaches that went to Rutgers after Dave Wannstedt was dismissed, well, most of them are doing just fine. Jeff Hafley and Brian Angelichio followed Greg Schiano to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Frank Cignetti is headed to the St. Louis Rams.
