Pitt Vs. West Virginia: Backyard Brawl Part II
West Virginia Mountaineers at Pittsburgh Panthers, Feb 16, 2012 9:00 PM EST
As I wrote earlier today, don't expect this to be the last Backyard Brawl in basketball. Not sure it'll get played next season, but I've got a hard time believing the two schools can't find some common ground and work something out with the abundance of non-conference games in basketball.
Tonight's game, just like the others left, is a huge one. I like the fact that Pitt gets this game at home, obviously.
One thing to know about the Mountaineers, though. As I mentioned in the SB Nation Pittsburgh preview, West Virginia isn't as bad as their recent record indicates. They Mountaineers have lost five out of their past six games, but all have been extremely close as they lost by a combined 21 points. Pitt won the last game in Morgantown and is playing at home, but look for a tight game tonight.
How do you think tonight's game will turn out? Leave your pre-game thoughts below in the comments section then check back and comment live during the game.

Tray Woodall has just been atrocious.
This is a pivotal game as to whether two weeks ago was an aberration or what we should we should expect from our PG.
Big East Hoops is Bliss.
If Woodall
plays at 75% of what he did against us in the Coliseum, then we’re done.
Maybe true...
But that was kind of a career game from him. And from what we’ve sen recently, that would be a huge change from how he’d been playing.

Pitt, WVCC, State Pen
I have an idea for a way Pitt. WVCC and State Pen can maintain some sort of semblance of regional rivalry… a sort of co-op between the three of them… where each year two of the three of them would meet potentially at a neutral site or could be home and home… this would mean they each would only need to set aside ONE date in two out of three years for the game with one bye year… for instance:
201a – Pitt vs State Pen
201b – State Pen vs WVCC
201c – WVCC vs Pitt
201d – State Pen vs Pitt
201e – WVCC vs State Pen
201f – Pitt vs WVCC
What do you think? Think it could work?
Well...
The thing is, I don’t think WVU is all that interested in playing Penn State and even less so vice versa. I understand the point, but I don’t think there’s much interest on either end there.
