There was another one of those unscientific polls out on ESPN recently. This one had to do with the ability of Pitt and Syracuse to contend in their respective ACC divisions. Let's just say the nation isn't all that sold on the two programs' chances.
As of Thursday, about 1% of respondents said Syracuse could contend. The outlook was much better for Pitt, but the majority still said they couldn't contend in the Coastal Division lining up against the likes of Virginia Tech, Miami, and Georgia Tech.
I don't like their chances all that much right away, though I do think there will be years when Pitt can contend. But the fact is that the program has a ways to go before they can realistically challenge for their division title, let alone an ACC championship.
