The NBA Draft came and went Thursday night and Pitt's Ashton Gibbs (as expected) wasn't selected. He'll now head into the pool of undrafted players and try to catch on with a team.
One player of note that also wasn't taken was Kevin Jones. Jones' agent supposedly had a guarantee that his client would not only be selected, but in the first-round if he fell that far. Those kinds of promises fall through all the time, so it wasn't a huge surprise he wasn't selected there. But I was a bit shocked that no team took a flyer on him late.
The silver lining for both players is that it's generally better to be a free agent than taken late as you can pick your own destination and find a situation that fits.
