Athlon's ranked the best players at each position and several Panthers showed up on their lists.
Among them, Ray Graham ranked as the highest at his position, coming in as the No. 9 running back. Aaron Donald ranked as the nation's 10th best defensive tackle and Jarred Holley ranked as the nation's 14th best safety. In addition, Devin Street got an honorable mention finishing just outside of the top 30 wide receivers, and Hubie Graham ranked just outside of the top 15 tight ends.
Also, three Pitt freshmen made the cut for top impact freshmen in the conference - Lafayette Pitts, Rushel Shell, and Chad Voytik:
Chad Voytik, QB, Pitt
From Cleveland, Tenn., the talanted passer is a perfect fit for Chryst's high-powered offensive system. In fact, Voytik will draw some comparison's to former Chryst QB Russell Wilson. Above average mobility, a bit undersized, decent arm, quality poise and leadership skills. This is why starter Tino Sunseri — who was inefficient and underwhelming last fall — needs to be looking over his shoulder .
The Wilson comparison is interesting and Pitt fans obviously remember him for leading North Carolina State to a win over the Panthers in 2010. Still, not sure how much Sunseri needs to be looking over his shoulder. Chryst seems conservative to me and I'm not sure Voytik will surpass Sunseri unless he struggles wildly.
