It's long been discussed, but new Big East commissioner Mike Aresco confirmed his desire to add a 14th football member to the conference on Thursday.

Aresco had this to say about more Big East expansion:

Aresco spoke with reporters Thursday night before Connecticut's football game with Massachusetts.

"We're looking at a 14th," he said. "I'm not talking about which ones. There are some obvious candidates, but we're not talking about raiding anyone and there are some independents that might potentially want to be a member."

That's all well and good, but as I've stated before, the biggest problem facing the Big East other than its perception is the fact that even though they've added some decent programs, the risk of further losses still clouds it.

But there's not much Aresco can do to control that right now, so it's hard to say I've got a problem with this plan.
