Former Pitt Star Sam Young Signs With Indiana Pacers

Sam Young is headed to Indiana (Rick Osentoski-US PRESSWIRE)

Former Pitt star Sam Young had a rough season last year. His playing time shrunk considerably with the Memphis Grizzlies and he was later traded the Philadelphia 76ers. His team made the playoffs, but he didn't have much of a role.

I speculated a while back if he would re-sign with the team since his contract was up. But that didn't happen and now, he's off to his third team in two seasons - the Indiana Pacers.

Young is a Pacer for now and terms of the contract weren't disclosed and he'll be joining them for training camp.

Young showed good promise in his rookie year and then fell out of favor in Memphis. The Philadelphia trade wasn't a huge surprise, but he failed to make an impact there, either. He'll probably really need to make an impact this summer to stick.

Still, it's premature to say his career is spiraling downward and since he's still pretty young, he has plenty of time to be an effective player in the NBA.
