After sitting out last weekend against Gardner-Webb, things are looking up for defensive star Aaron Donald. According to the Post-Gazette, Donald is back at practice. Even more than that, it sounds like he'll be ready for the Panthers' road game at Syracuse next weekend:
Aaron Donald has returned to practice this week after missing out last week to deal with a knee issue. As Chryst said at the time, all indications point to him being back and ready to go for Syracuse next weekend.
That's welcome news, obviously. Pitt was able to get by last week against an inferior opponent, but it's good to know that the Panthers should have him back for their second conference game of the year.
Donald's having a quiet year so far. Through four games, he's yet to record a sack and has only eight tackles and two for loss. Those numbers are significantly off his pace from last season (11 sacks, 47 tackles, 16 tackles for loss). But don't be entirely fooled by that. Donald's been the target of many double teams and you can bet that more teams are keeping an eye on him after his big season in 2011.
Even when Donald isn't putting up huge stats, he's still drawing the attention of offensive lines - and that will hopefully open things u pfor others to make plays.
