Pitt-Syracuse to kick off at 12:30 p.m.

Mark Konezny-US PRESSWIRE

The Panthers' football team will take on the North Carolina Tar Heels this weekend, but the conference announced next week's game times for member schools yesterday. That, of course, included Pitt's contest against Syracuse. The conference announced that the Panthers will take on the Orange at 12:30 p.m. next Saturday on the road.

Not a huge surprise there, or even a minor one for that matter. It's hardly a marquee game with a pair of 5-4 teams, so it wasn't likely to be a late afternoon or night game. But make no mistake, it's going to be a huge game for both teams. If Pitt can't defeat North Carolina this weekend, it remains the team's best chance to get to a bowl game. And if they do beat the Tar Heels, a seventh win should get them to a slightly better bowl with the chance to reach eight wins for the first time since 2010.

Get ready for an early kickoff next weekend, folks.
