Pitt swept in Bulldog Classic after 6-4 loss to VCU

Stay connected for news and updates

Pitt dropped their final game of the Bulldog Classic on Sunday, losing 6-4 to Virginia Commonwealth. The loss marks the third in a row for the team, which is now 5-4 on the season.

The Panthers scored four runs in the game - that's the second most scored on VCU all season. But after taking a 1-0 lead, Pitt gave up six runs over the last four innings.

The sweep is certainly disappointing after the 5-1 start. Losing to undefeated VCU wasn't a terrible loss, but not being able to grab at least one from UNC Asheville and The Citadel hurts a bit. Still, it's early in the season and with the team a game over .500, things could be worse.

After playing their first nine games on the road, Pitt will play their first games of the season at home at Cost Field next weekend. We'll have more on this a bit later.
