Preseason love for Pitt defensive lineman Aaron Donald continues. Today, he was named to the preseason watch lists for the Bronko Nagurski Trophy (best defensive player) and the Outland Trophy (best interior lineman). And a
little lot late on this, but earlier, Donald was named to the preseason watch list for the Bednarik Award. Considering it's given to the top defensive player in all of college football, Donald has about as much chance to bring home any of these trophies as I do. Still, good to see him get the recognition.
Speaking of recognition, he's really the only Pitt player out there getting much of it. The Panthers have a young team with lots of inexperienced players and while the NFL Draft drought should end next year with Donald in it, he and wide receiver Devin Street may be the only guys taken.
Donald is getting noticed plenty this preseason. Recently, he was named to Athlon's All-ACC team. He also made Phil Steele's ACC First Team and was a dubbed by him as a Third Team All American. Lindy's was even higher on him, picking Donald as a Second Team All American. He's also up for the Ronnie Lott IMPACT Trophy, given to a defensive standout on and off the field.
