2013 Pitt Football Projected Depth Chart: The Offense

Devin Street looks to lead the Pitt offense - US PRESSWIRE

Pitt's depth chart is becoming clearer as we approach the opener against Florida State.

The season is fast approaching (13 days!) and the depth chart is starting to unfold. If you have read our practice coverage throughout training camp, or that of the Post Gazette and Tribune Review, you've noticed the position battles taking shape. But in case you've been under a rock, here's a look at what the starting lineup should look like against Florida State on September 2.

Quarterback - Tom Savage has been named the starter, but Chad Voytik could see some time as the backup.

Running Back - Isaac Bennett was expected to be the starter, but while I still feel he will be, an injury has slowed him of late. True freshman, James Conner, has been seeing most of the first team reps with him out, and Malcolm Crocket and Rachid Ibrahim also appear to be in the mix at this point.

Fullback - The latest reviews are saying true freshman Jaymar Parrish has been impressing recently, but juniors Mark Giubilato and Adam Lazenga have some experience and the starting job is likely Giubilato's.

Wide Receiver - Devin Street obviously has one spot locked down, but true freshman, Tyler Boyd, could be close to doing the same. Boyd was the jewel of the most recent recruiting class, and has been proving it thus far in training camp. Others in competition with Boyd to start will be Ed Tinker and Kevin Weatherspoon.

Tight End - JP Holtz is a beast of a sophomore and started most of last season. He will get the bulk of the time, but Manasseh Garner has carried over a strong spring and will be on the field quite a bit this season. Garner is a tight end technically, but has hybrid qualities that will have him all over the field. True freshman, Scott Orndoff, also is expected to have a big role.

Left Tackle - Adam Bisnowaty is a redshirt freshman and it looks like this is his job for as long as he is at Pitt. Backing him up is likely Juantez Hollins.

Left Guard - Cory King is the lone senior starter on the line and has received some good reviews during camp. Ryan Schlieper is a backup here.

Center - This one is actually up in the air with Artie Rowell battling Gabe Roberts. Rowell is the smaller and quicker one of the two, while Roberts is a massive presence like most of the other linemen.

Right Guard - Matt Rotheram has this one locked down. He is Pitt's biggest lineman and has plenty of experience in his career. Schlieper is likely a backup here as well.

Right Tackle - Signs are pointing to former defensive end TJ Clemmings getting the job. Five-star true freshman Dorian Johnson is still in the mix, but if Clemmings can prove himself early this season, the young lineman can take a redshirt. Hollins also serves as a backup here.
