Pitt freshman Tyler Boyd named ACC Receiver of the Week

Charles LeClaire-USA TODAY Sport

Pitt freshman Tyler Boyd only has two games under his belt with the Panthers, but is already getting some notice on the national level. Boyd was named this week's ACC Receiver of the Week, which begs the question - this is a thing? Yes, apparently it is.

In all seriousness, Boyd won the award after his big performance against New Mexico last weekend. He had six catches for 134 yards and a touchdown, but as we've seen in his two games, that was only part of the story. Boyd also chipped in on the ground with two carries for 39 yards and another score, and also returned kicks.

Just as striking as all the yardage he accumulated and the touchdowns were the big plays he made. He had not one or two, but three of them against the Lobos with a 33-yard touchdown run, a 51-yard catch, and a 34-yard touchdown catch as time expired just before halftime.

It's starting to become a bit repetitive, but Boyd can flat out play.
