Beating the Odds: Pitt early favorites against Virginia

Streeter Lecka

Not sure if this will become a weekly feature yet, but I'm going to at least try to regularly track the odds for Pitt's opponents during game week - purely for educational/information purposes, of course. It's early, but the Panthers have come out as favorites against Virginia.

Specifically, OddsShark listed Pitt as an early seven-point favorite over the weekend.

That seems about right to me so far, though I could see it falling a bit later. The Panthers have the game at home, but as I wrote in the preview, Virginia has been impressive in their two games against BYU and VMI despite the beating they took at the hands of Oregon.

Pitt's offense has looked impressive against New Mexico and Duke, but we all know the problems the defense has had. We'll see how things progress during the week but for now, the Panthers have been installed as early favorites for their big Homecoming game against the Cavaliers.
