Can you believe we're coming on Pitt being halfway done with its regular season already? The season is moving quickly, and Pitt's starting to get into the meat of its conference schedule.
Corey has separated himself from the pack with his UNC pick from a few weeks ago, followed by a log jam at second place.
This week, the unanimous pick is for Pitt. Georgia Tech seems better than the 3-9 team from last year, and it shows in their 3-2 record so far. They've lost their last two to Clemson and Miami, however. While Georgia Tech's triple option offense eviscerated Pitt's defense in the first half of last year's game, Pitt adjusted well in the second half to win on a last second field goal from Chris Blewitt.
This year, Pitt's run defense is phenomenal (2nd best P5 rush defense, behind only Alabama), and is hopefully able to keep Georgia Tech's run game contained. Georgia Tech is also likely not really able to take advantage of Pitt's extreme weakness in pass defense.
We all know Pitt will keep this one close anyway because they love to make it interesting for us. You also can't help but remember the last time Georgia Tech came to Pitt for homecoming which was the first game Pitt wore the script again. What will happen when Pitt wears the throwback uniforms for the first time?
