So I was browsing around ESPN.com today and noticed their bowl predictions page. I normally don't think about this type of stuff until at least midway through the conference season, but I couldn't help but take a look.
Seems that Andrea Adelson, whoever she might be, has Pitt projected to appear in the oh so prestigious St. Petersburg Bowl, while Mark Schlabach leaves Pitt out altogether.Wow, I know things are bad, but I don't know if they're that bad. Are teams like Rutgers, South Florida, Syracuse, and UCONN all better than Pitt? Maybe, but I doubt it. It's easy to look at Pitt's 2-3 record and pronounce doom and gloom, but let's not forget that all three games came against pretty good teams. Notre Dame may not be great, but I'd be hard pressed to say that any of those four Big East teams I mentioned would definitely go to South Bend and beat Notre Dame on the road.
I'm not knocking ESPN.com for putting these rankings out already. I'm just saying I wouldn't count the Panthers out just yet.
