Not nearly as scary as the title makes it sound, but Pitt's football team did apparently self report some minor recruiting violations recently.
Paul Zeise of the PG breaks the news here, and goes into a bit more detail here. Doesn't sound too serious to me, and since it was only a warning, I have a hard time getting worked up over this.
Still, to be honest, even though the text messages were apparently innocent mistakes, I don't know how something like that happens. The NCAA is so tough on, well, everything, that I find it hard to believe you can't be more on top of sending texts vs. phone emails.
But I'm sure after getting a warning, the department will be a little more on top of it in the future.
