Cam Saddler suspended against South Florida; questionable for BBVA Compass Bowl game

Andy Lyons

Lost a bit in Pitt's win over South Florida this past weekend was that wide receiver Cam Saddler was suspended. Saddler never made the impact many thought he would this season, but he was the team's fourth leading receiver with 16 catches for 229 yards. Saddler's biggest contribution has probably come in returning kicks and punts and he's returned a total of 23 of them this season.

The reason for suspension wasn't immediately given and Paul Chryst isn't yet saying if he will play in Pitt's BBVA Compass Bowl game against Ole Miss:

Asked after the 27-3 victory against South Florida if Saddler would play in the bowl game, coach Paul Chryst said: “We’ll see.”

I'd really hate to see a senior not be able to go out and play in a bowl game - especially one in Saddler's shoes who has had to deal with the numerous coaching changes, but still stuck it out. We don't know what he did wrong yet, but Pitt's return game could suffer a bit if he's not in there.
