If you've followed Pitt even casually since, well, the 1980s, you know they have an uncanny penchant for disappointing fans. All schools suffer disappointments, but if it seems like Pitt does more often than others, you're not alone.
ESPN has another Big East poll up regarding the team that will disappoint the most. As of Friday, it was no surprise that the Panthers were leading the way.
Saying that Pitt will disappoint the most this season is a bit puzzling, of course. Most pundits are placing the Panthers to finish no better than third or fourth, so that begs the question: If they're not expected to do much, how can they disappoint?I'm one of the few that thinks Pitt can actually compete in the Big East this year and finish in the top two if they have a great season. Competing in any of the other AQ conferences, it'd be difficult to make such a claim, but with West Virginia now gone and no clear-cut dominant team around, the Panthers might stand as good a chance as anyone.
