Small note here, but as expected, Pitt quarterback Tom Savage has been cleared and will play against Virginia Tech this Saturday. Yesterday, I mentioned that Savage was likely to play and head coach Paul Chryst confirmed that his quarterback is cleared after suffering a minor concussion in the Panthers' game against Virginia a couple of weeks ago.
Obviously great news and the extra time paved the way for his return. The question for me is if there will be any lingering effects or hesitant play on his end. I've never had a concussion, but with all of the talk about them over the past few years, I can't imagine it's not in the back of the mind of players - particularly quarterbacks who are often sitting ducks after making throws and are hit repeatedly.
My guess is that Savage will come out and play just as he always has, but it will be interesting to see if there's any change in his play or production.
