Villanova transfer Achraf Yacoubou has Pitt in final three schools

USA TODAY Sports

Last month, we mentioned Villanova transfer Achraf Yacoubou potentially coming to Pitt. At that point, Yacoubou was considering the Panthers, UNLV, Miami, Georgia Tech, and Saint Louis. Word broke today that he's down to a final three of Pitt, Georgia Tech, and Saint Louis, with UNLV and Miami now apparently out of contention - at least according to his high school coach.

In case you don't remember Yacoubou from our initial post, he was a little-used guard at Villanova - particularly after the regular season where he played sparingly in the Big East Tournament and not at all in the NCAAs.

I'm kind of 'meh' on Yacoubou. As he said in the original ZagsBlog story, he's produced when he's gotten minutes. But if he were truly deserving of them, you'd have to believe that he'd get more time in the postseason. That said, I do get the whole 'warm bodies' theory. Pitt is in need of them so I can see why they're at least interested.

Yacoubou plans to visit Pitt soon according to his head coach.
