We're 19 days away from Pitt's official entrance into the ACC. While we've covered many aspects of the ACC, one thing cannot be overstated. The ACC is, without a doubt, home to some of the most premier basketball programs in the country. While there are many respectable programs, the ACC basketball universe centers are two bitter rivals separated by only a few shorts miles in the heart of Tobacco Road.
Of course, I'm referring to the Duke and UNC rivalry. Specifically, I'd like to mention Duke's 19 (NINETEEN!) ACC basketball tournament titles. The first title came in 1960. The most recent came in 2011. Along with the tournament titles, Duke has won 22 regular season ACC titles. Duke had a lot of early success in the ACC, but most people recognize the Blue Devils achievements with their current head coach, the legendary, and oft-vilified, Mike Krzyzewski. Love him or hate him, you can't argue his record and his ability to get the most of his players. Those little floor-slappers are tough to handle, especially at Cameron Indoor.
In 2013, the Blue Devils travel to Pittsburgh and the Peterson Events Center. In 2014, Pitt will travel to Cameron Indoor. ACC basketball should be an experience unlike any other.
