Much to the joy of Pitt fans everywhere, the team finally started landing some football recruits recently. Stuck on a single recruit for some time, safety Jalen Williams committed last week.
Then came the avalanche. Adam Bertke and Dennis Briggs both checked in on Tuesday. And Wednesday saw coveted offensive lineman Michael Grimm commit as well as Patrick Amara and Avonte Maddox. Only Grimm is considered a big recruit out of that bunch, but as you can imagine, that still bumped the Panthers quite a bit up the rankings in 2014.
Rivals, who had Pitt at No. 83 before the avalanche bumped the Panthers all the way up to No. 62 as of Wednesday night. That tied the Panthers with Maryland, Boise State, and Kansas.
I won't profess that Pitt has a great class right now. Still lots to be done and if they're at No. 62 by National Signing Day, that would be a big disappointment. But they are making some headway and fears should be alleviated at least slightly.
