A little while ago, we announced that Pitt would be playing Penn State in basketball as part of the Big Ten/ACC Challenge tournament. Details were released last week about the date and time.
The game will be played on Tuesday, December 3rd at 7:30 p.m. at the Pete. As if that weren't cool enough, you can also catch the game on ESPNU if you can't be there in person.
My feelings on the game have been a bit mixed since it was announced. I've always felt that Pitt should be playing Penn State in basketball instead of one of the numerous smaller teams. But if the two are going to play regularly, it should just be a regular season game. I'd much rather see Pitt take on some teams like Michigan State, Michigan, or Ohio State in the event.
Still - you're not going to get me to complain about playing the Nittany Lions here. A game against Penn State is infinitely better than playing several of the team on the Panthers' schedule in recent memory. Would be nice to get this as a regular season game and with so many non-conference games, there's little reason to do it that way IMO.
