Pitt ranks 10th in ESPN's ACC Power Rankings

Jared Wickerham

ESPN released their preseason ACC power rankings and unsurprisingly, the Panthers didn't fare all that well. The site lists Pitt at No. 10 to start the season. Here's the full list:

1. Clemson

2. Florida State

3. Miami

4. North Carolina

5. Virginia Tech

6. Georgia Tech

7. Wake Forest

8. North Carolina State

9. Maryland

10. Pitt

11. Syracuse

12. Duke

13. Virginia

14. Boston College

That's a spot or two too low by my estimation, but considering several media outlets picked the Panthers to finish fifth in the Coastal Division alone, that's not a huge surprise.

My initial list would look similar, though I might flip-flop NC State and Wake and bump Pitt up to eighth or ninth. Also could see good reason to move Virginia Tech up over North Carolina.

But hey, all of this will change within a week so there's no good reason to over-analyze at this point.
