Pitt vs. Clemson: Open Gamethread

USA TODAY Sports

The Panthers' basketball team tries to get back on track tonight against Clemson. In the beginning of the season, this probably wasn't a game you circled on the calendar when it came to big contests. But with Clemson at 13-4 and Pitt trying to stay near the top of the ACC, that's exactly what it is.

The Tigers are having a good season and at 4-1 in the conference, are right up there with the Panthers. The team has been impressive and has a statement win against Duke under their belts.

Clemson is a modest 2-2 on the road, but their losses there have been close. The Tigers lost by only six to a decent Arkansas team and by only two to a less decent Auburn squad. They also own ACC road wins against Boston College and Virginia Tech.

Clemson is led by junior forward K.J. McDaniels and is a solid rebounding team, hauling in about 39 per game. Still, it's hard to pick against Pitt here. The Panthers score more, shoot better, and playing at home, should have the edge here. Plus coming off of the disappointing loss to Syracuse over the weekend, you've got to think they'll be, say, a little motivated.
