Pitt had a big game Monday night and came out on top with a comfortable 20-point win against Maryland. Buried at the end of the game, though, was an interesting substitution.
If you blinked (or left with a few minutes to spare to begin preparing a recap) you likely missed it, but transfer Joseph Uchebo, who Pitt added back in May (also, here was a little more on him), played his first minutes as a Panther. To be fair, it was more like 'seconds' as he only played the last minute. Still, getting Uchebo on the court was encouraging to say the least.
If you missed it, you can head over to WatchESPN (if you have access) and catch the game there in the replay section.
To recap, Uchebo grabbed an early rebound and altered a shot ... not bad for less than a minute of action. To be fair, he looked to be moving okay, but definitely didn't look to be 100%. But if he continues to progress, he'll be a nice little addition for a team desperately needing depth at center. Even if he's not fully healthy, Pitt can surely use his size as they've had some trouble rebounding lately.
