It's already been a pretty special year for Pitt's Tyler Boyd. Ever since his debut against Florida State, all eyes have been on him. Boyd put up some huge games this season, even overshadowing senior Devin Street, Pitt's all-time career receptions leader, at times.
Boyd was the ACC's Receiver of the Week earlier this year and set a Pitt freshman record for receptions. In the bowl game against Bowling Green, he also broke Larry Fitzgerald's records for yardage as a freshman and for 100-yard games as a freshman.
Pretty special, indeed.
Fitz added another honor this week when he was named to the Football Writers Association of America's Freshman All-American team this season.
It's still early in his career and even breaking Fitzgerald's records for a first-year player, comparisons between the two are still entirely too premature at this point. But for Boyd to do what he did this season (especially when you consider that Devin Street ate up a large number of targets) was really pretty unbelievable.
