Pitt has a stiff challenge on Thursday night squaring off against Virginia Tech and while the game is expected to be a close one, the Panthers are early underdogs against the Hokies at home.
The opening line per OddsShark started with Pitt as a 2 1/2-point underdog and as of Monday morning, most lines had the Panthers as 2 1/2-3 point underdogs.
Pitt enters the contest with the three-game losing streak (with losses against Iowa, Akron, and Virginia), while Virginia Tech has won two in a row against Western Michigan and North Carolina. The Hokies looked solid in their last game against the Tar Heels, winning by 17 on the road.
Pitt really should be the underdog here and I'd say that line is probably about right. Like the Virginia game, it's one that the Panthers are probably capable of winning. But the Hokies have looked better this year and have done so against better competition.
