Against the Odds: Pitt favored against Georgia Tech

Kevin Liles-USA TODAY Sports

After the Panthers' win against Virginia Tech, Pitt hosts Georgia Tech this weekend for Homecoming. It's expected to be a close game, but odds are favoring the Panthers right now.

Pitt opened up as a four-point favorite and as of Tuesday, odds hadn't shifted all that much with the team remaining a 3 1/2-point favorite.

The Panthers being the favorite isn't a huge surprise here. They get the game at home, it's Homecoming, and most importantly, the team is just playing much better lately. Over the past six quarters, Pitt has looked much more like the team that won their first three games than the one that dropped the following three. With the Virginia Tech game, they also carry a little momentum into this one.

Defending the option is likely the key for Pitt and because that's such a quirky offense that can cause so many problems, a win is far from guaranteed. But the Panthers head into the game expected to win.
