Pitt takes on Virginia this week and as most teams do this time of year, has some injury concerns heading into the game.
Last week, defensive end Luke Maclean didn't play (or dress) due to an ankle injury, and he's expected to be out again. Devin Cook could be the guy that replaces him. Maclean out hurts the depth, but with David Durham back, though, that helps.
The other thing to watch is the injury to Avonte Maddox. Maddox left the Akron game with a shoulder injury and didn't return. Because of it, Ryan Lewis came in for him in the nickel package and was promptly burned for a long touchdown strike. Maddox is expected to play and that's a good thing as the secondary is already pretty thin.
Pitt also still does not have an unquestioned leader at center with Artie Rowell's season ending injury a few weeks ago. Both Alex Officer and Gabe Roberts continue to play, and as Paul Chryst mentioned in his press conference this week, each had snap issues. Officer is expected to start but we'll probably see both play until someone really proves they deserve to be 'the guy.'
