Alex Hornibrook is Pitt's lone quarterback commitment for the 2015 recruiting class, and he has performed well in his 2015 senior campaign. Hornibrook set the Malvern Prep all-time passing mark earlier in the year. He has helped lead his team to a successful 2014 season to date.  Although Malvern Prep is located in Pennsylvania, the team does not compete in the PIAA and will not be eligible for a state championship. The Malvern Preparatory School is a member of the prestigious Inter-Academic League which consists of some very notable prep schools in suburban Philadelphia.  With that membership, it allowed Hornibrook and Malvern Prep to play a diverse and difficult schedule, thus preparing him for the rigors the ACC may throw at him.

The left handed pro-style QB is an ideal fit for a Paul Chryst type of offense. Hornibrook is not a heralded recruit, with his only other FBS offers being Rutgers and UConn. Still, given Pitt's depth at the position right now, it is hard to be upset with bringing any quarterback into the mix.  Hornibrook has the size, arm strength, and the smarts to be recruited by the Ivy League. All of those should translate well for him. He may not be a blue chip recruit, but he is a solid one.  Will he be able to unseat Chad Voytik?  Probably not, but he and Adam Bertke will be battling for the backup spot for the next few seasons, and they may be competing for the starting spot in 2017. Hornibrook is enrolling early, so the competition with Bertke begins this January.
