Jordan Whitehead may very well be the most important recruit in the Paul Chryst era, given his position and the need at that position. He is a special player, and is one of the best defensive back recruits not only in Pennsylvania, but in the entire country. He has the type of ability to come into the season next year and be a starting corner back, return man, and even take some offensive reps.
Whitehead has long been known on the Western Pennsylvania high school football circuit playing for AAA power, Central Valley. The Warriors are once again one of the better teams in their classification, and Whitehead is the driving force behind that. They have some serious WPIAL, and even state championship aspirations, and they will be a team to watch over the next few weeks.
Whitehead will have every opportunity to come in and start at corner next season. Pitt's play at the corner position has been shaky in 2014, and the players in place have not done much to deserve their jobs handed to them in 2015. Lafayette Pitts and Avonte Maddox have had some tough seasons but they will still be in the mix, Reggie Mitchell could end up back at Safety, and Titus Howard will be back on the file following a year-long suspension. Whitehead and Howard could very well be the best corners on the team, and it could make for a big difference in 2015. At the very least, Whitehead will play in some capacity as he is a well regarded return man and could give a big boost there.
