Dane Jackson was a very good high school football player and is a solid addition to the class. If you take the time to watch his film, there is little doubt he was a special and important player for Quaker Valley High School.

The Quakers used him at quarterback mainly to get the ball in his hands as much as possible, and he made some highlight reel runs time after time. Quaker Valley missed the playoffs with a 5-4 record, and Jackson was injured early in the year. His time missed probably cost them a playoff berth as he is that important to their success.

Still, does his athleticism playing against WPIAL AA competition translate into being a division one defensive back? That remains to be seen. In addition to his Pitt offer, Jackson had three FBS offers total, two of which were to Bowling Green and Eastern Michigan.  We will find out soon enough if Pitt made the right decision in to offer Jackson, or if he was a reach.

Pitt must have liked what they saw in Jackson over the summer as they essentially offered him on the spot after a workout. Jackson was an elite talent in high school, but the offers did not come flying in for him. Pitt is bringing in two other corners in Whitehead and Henderson, so he does not have to make an immediate impact.  As we saw this year, you can never have enough depth at cornerback. Jackson should be able to provide depth and perhaps grow into a good player down the line.
