Pitt survived its first game of the Maui Invitational in beating Chaminade last night and, as a result, they're now on the winner's side of the bracket.
The Panthers will face a much stiffer test tonight in facing No. 15 San Diego State. The Aztecs beat BYU last night, scoring 92 points in double overtime. The good news for Pitt? The Aztecs may be a little tired since they not only went two overtimes, but played the late game at 11:30 p.m. EST.
That should benefit the Panthers. How much, though, is anybody's guess.
A win here would be big. Not only would the Panthers add a huge non-conference victory to their resume, but they'll reach the finals and potentially play another ranked team in Arizona as they'll face Kansas State tonight for the right to play in the championship game.
