Dave Wannstedt runs over Steve Pederson one more time ... for kicks, you know.

Kim Klement-USA TODAY Sports

Stop it, he's already dead!

Just in case Dave Wannstedt hadn't gotten his point across about how he feels about former Pitt athletic director Steve Pederson, he took one more chance to run over the animal that was already dead:

"Would I have taken this job if I didn’t know who the AD was or if it was going to be Steve Pederson? Absolutely not," Wannstedt said. "That has to be a discussion with the coach. Get a great coach and everything will work out, but it can be a factor. They can’t stick their head in the sand and pretend that it’s not."

Tell us how you really feel, Coach.

No, seriously, though, Wannstedt is hilarious. He took time to criticize Pederson during a national telecast earlier this season and with Pederson now being gone, he's probably even more willing to throw him under the bus. That wasn't happening when Pederson was still at Pitt so why would anyone expect it would now?

To be fair to Wannstedt, he was having a conversation about what Pitt needed to do in their next hire for an athletic director, so Pederson's name had to come up by default. Still, don't expect Dave to take the high road here and make somewhat ambiguous comments.

In other words, he'll tell you he hates Pederson's guts and has no problem doing so.
