College Bowl Projections: Pitt to face Houston in Armed Forces Bowl Game

Tim Heitman-USA TODAY Sports

Pitt missed out on the opportunity to play against Penn State in a bowl game, but the Panthers are still headed to a preseason game. Per ESPN's Brett McMurhy, Pitt will face Houston in the Armed Forces Bowl game.

On the surface, the Cougars appear to be a team that Pitt can compete with. They were 7-5 in the American, with no big wins to speak of and losses to Cincinnati, BYU, Central Florida, UTSA, and Tulane.

The game is in Fort Worth, Texas. Destination favors Houston, obviously, but it also gives fans a chance to head south for some warmer weather. One semi-positive is the date. The game will be on January 2nd, so Pitt not only has all kinds of time to prepare for its opponent, but they'll get plenty of practice time in. It's not a weekend date, but on a Friday with New Year's on a Thursday, a good amount of people will probably taking the day off, anyway.

And if you're planning to watch, you'll need to be off of work since it's a noon (EST) kickoff.

Seems familiar.
