I didn't have anything to do with this, friends.
An SB Nation writer predicted the order of finish in the ACC Coastal Division and the Panthers didn't fare all that well. Pitt, in fact, was picked to finish sixth out of the Division's seven teams. The Panthers finished only ahead of lowly Virginia in the picks. Miami was selected to win the Division.
I don't know, would a sixth place finish be out of the question? Not at all. For the record, Pitt was picked to finish 7-6 and that's not an awful pick, obviously. Personally, I think the schedule is weak enough that an eight-win season is highly possible, but seven simply isn't out of the question. And while the Coastal may not have an elite team, there are plenty of decent ones around.
The sixth-place finish sounds bad, admittedly. But given that the Panthers were picked to finish only two games behind first-place Miami, a lot of Division teams are expected to do fairly well this year.
Personally, I expect to fare a little better only because I'm not sure Chad Voytik will have as many struggles as some think and ... man, that schedule.
