ESPN's Joe Lunardi has come out with a few updated bracket projections for the NCAA Tournament since we last checked in. Pitt slipped to a No. 7 seed, then rose to a No. 6 with their win against Virginia Tech, before falling back to a No. 7 in the latest projections on Thursday.
Lunardi dropped the Panthers after their loss against Syracuse, but their narrow escape against Virginia Tech may have factored in as well. The seeding is disappointing, obviously, but with Pitt poised to likely fall out of the Top 25 next week, that projection is probably about right.
It's still early, but a No. 7 seed really wouldn't be ideal as it almost certainly would mean a date against a No. 2 team in the opening weekend if they even win their first game. Gotta beat everybody, but you also want an easy path as possible ... and that wouldn't be it.
