The NFL Combine was held last week and over the weekend. It will continue through Tuesday, but Pitt's three biggest NFL Draft hopefuls performed mostly well in individual events so far.
Defensive lineman Aaron Donald finished second among defensive linemen in the bench press with 35 reps - only one behind leader Kaleb Ramsey from Boston College, who had 36.
Wide receiver Devin Street finished 16th in the 40-yard dash among wide receivers with a top time of 4.47. His second-best time of 4.53 wasn't too bad, either. Street also finished tied for 8th in the broad jump (10'4"), 8th in the 20-yard shuttle (4.01 seconds), and 14th among wideouts with a 37-inch vertical leap. Out of nearly 50 receivers, Street performed pretty well.
Quarterback Tom Savage probably had the roughest weekend of the bunch. His 4.97 time in the 40-yard dash was 12th out of all quarterbacks. His 27-inch vertical leap was 15th, and he finished in 13th in the broad jump, three cone drill, and 20-yard shuttle time. With only 19 quarterbacks registered for the event (and not everyone participating in everything), Savage often finished near the bottom.
