Been a while since we've seen former Pitt assistant Tom Herrion, but in case you lost track, he's been at Marshall the past few years. Herrion left Pitt a few years ago to take the Marshall job, but things didn't work out and a few days ago, he was dismissed as he resigned and the school bought him out.
Herrion got off to a good start and looked like the man for the job early on. He didn't make the NCAAs either year, but had back-to-back 20-win seasons and got to the NIT once. Over the past two, though, he's had losing records and that was enough for the school to move on.
I'll be interested in seeing what happens to him. He was a good assistant at Pitt and was the recruiter on several of Pitt's key players including Dante Taylor, Ashton Gibbs, Lamar Patterson, and others. He also had the reputation of being one of college basketball's top assistants. I don't think there's any room for him right now, but he could be a valuable guy to have if someone leaves.
