With basketball going on the past few days, unfortunately I didn't get a chance to tune into the wrestling championships all that much.
It might not be a bad idea if the NCAA decided not to host the wrestling championships at the same time as the opening week of the basketball championships. Even if the wrestlers were pushed back to next weekend, a lot of basketball teams are out by that point and a little more attention might be given to it. Ideally, it would happen the weekend before.
Just sayin'.
I'll have a Pitt recap up later, but it was worth pointing out that Tyler Wilps earned All-American status by finishing 7th at the championships. He won a total of four matches on his way to the honor.
Wilps won the 174-pound title in the ACC and had a good showing at the championships. He surely wanted to place higher but overall, had a really strong season. Pitt gets the junior back next year and his return will help the team quite a bit.
Wilps became the 75th All-American wrestler at Pitt.
