2014 NFL Mock Draft: Pitt defensive lineman Aaron Donald firmly entrenched as top defensive tackle

Andrew Weber-USA TODAY Sports

We all know that Pitt defensive tackle Aaron Donald is virtually assured of being a first-round pick. But if the latest NFL Draft projections for 2014 are any indication, Donald could also be the first defensive tackle taken.

Mike Mayock of NFL.com previously had Donald as the third-best tackle but in his latest position rankings, but recently bumped him up to No. 1. Donald is the top defensive tackle on ESPN's player rankings as well, checking in at the tenth best prospect overall. He also tops CBS Sports' list for defensive tackles on their big board.

Even more than that, Donald is also rated highly when you look at the entire defensive line. In fact, the only defensive lineman (defensive end) rated higher than him is South Carolina's Jadeveon Clowney. Clowney is at the top of many different boards and the fact that no other ends are ahead of Donald on those three sites is pretty amazing.

There's no telling where he goes just yet, but some popular teams that are mentioned a lot out there are the Chicago Bears, Dallas Cowboys, and New York Giants. We'll have more on that as we get closer to the draft.
